The Marengo Fire and Rescue Districts are conducting ongoing recruitment and testing to develop a pool of candidates for Full-Time as well as Part-Time Firefighter/EMT’s.  We are a growing and progressive department with a vision focused on the future.

Full-Time Opportunities

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 21 years of age or older

  • Illinois State Fire Marshal, Basic Operation FF or FF II

  • Illinois or Nationally licensed EMT-Paramedic

  • CPAT required at time of application (may be waived for lateral hire)

  • No felony convictions. Certain misdemeanor convictions may be a disqualifier

  • Valid Illinois driver’s license

  • National Testing Network Fire Team exam

  • Submission of preference points

  • Mandatory Orientation 

  • Commission Oral Interview

  • Conditional Letter of Hire 

  • Psychological Examination and Comprehensive Medical

*ALL EMPLOYEES MUST ACHIEVE AND HOLD AN IDPH PARAMEDIC LICENSE WITHIN THE MARENGO FIRE- RESCUE EMS REGION, WITHIN THE PROBATIONARY PERIOD OF EMPLOYMENT WHICH MAY BE EXTENDED. EMPLOYEES WILL BE LIMITED TO THREE ATTEMPTS TO PASS THE NATIONAL PARAMEDIC CERTIFICATION TEST. FAILURE TO ACHIEVE ANY OF THESE REQUIREMENTS WILL BE CAUSE FOR SEPARATION. 

Part-Time Opportunities

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 21 years of age or older, or between 18 and 21 years of age, and actively enrolled and in good standing in an accredited fire academy or EMS program

  • Prefer: BOF/Firefighter II

  • Prefer: EMT-B or Paramedic

  • No felony convictions. Certain misdemeanor convictions may be a disqualifier

  • Valid Illinois driver’s license

HIRING PROCESS

The Marengo Fire & Rescue Districts offers testing services for the Firefighter/Paramedic and Part-time positions through the National Testing Network (NTN). To register with NTN and begin the process, go to www.nationaltestingnetwork.com, select “Find jobs”, then select “Firefighter Jobs” and sign up for “Marengo Fire – Rescue”, select the position you are seeking, “Firefighter/Paramedic” or “Part-time Firefighter/EMT-B or Paramedic”.
