Full-Time Opportunities

     Minimum Qualifications:

       • 21 years of age or older
       • Illinois State Fire Marshal, Basic Operation FF or FF II
       • Illinois or Nationally licensed EMT-Paramedic
       • CPAT required at time of offer (may be waived for lateral hire)
       • No felony convictions. Certain misdemeanor convictions may be a disqualifier
       • Valid Illinois driver’s license

Part-Time Opportunities

     Minimum Qualifications:

        • 21 years of age or older, or between 18 and 21 years of age, and actively enrolled and in good standing in an accredited fire academy or EMS program
        • Prefer: OSFM Basic Operation Firefighter or Firefighter II
        • Prefer: EMT- B
        • No felony convictions. Certain misdemeanor convictions may be a disqualifier
        • Valid Illinois driver’s license

     Minimum Qualifications:

        • 18 year of age or older
        • EMT-B or Paramedic
        • Attending a BOF program (currently enrolled or upcoming). District will sponsor program.

HIRING PROCESS

The Marengo Fire & Rescue Districts offers testing services for the Firefighter/Paramedic and Part-time positions through the National Testing Network (NTN). To register with NTN and begin the process, go to “www.nationaltestingnetwork.com”, select “Find jobs”, then select “Firefighter Jobs” and sign up for “Marengo Fire – Rescue”, select the position you are seeking, “Firefighter/Paramedic” or “Part-time Firefighter/EMT-B or Paramedic”.

 

*ALL EMPLOYEES MUST ACHIEVE AND HOLD AN IDPH PARAMEDIC LICENSE WITHIN THE MARENGO FIRE- RESCUE EMS REGION, WITHIN THE PROBATIONARY PERIOD OF EMPLOYMENT WHICH MAY BE EXTENDED. EMPLOYEES WILL BE LIMITED TO THREE ATTEMPTS TO PASS THE NATIONAL PARAMEDIC CERTIFICATION TEST. FAILURE TO ACHIEVE ANY OF THESE REQUIREMENTS WILL BE CAUSE FOR SEPARATION.
