The Marengo Fire and Rescue Districts are conducting ongoing recruitment and testing to develop a pool of candidates for Full-Time as well as Part-Time Firefighter/EMT’s.  We are a growing and progressive department with a vision focused on the future.


Full-Time Firefighter/Paramedic:

  • Illinois State Fire Marshal, Basic Operation FF or FF II
  • Illinois or Nationally licensed EMT-Paramedic
  • CPAT required at time of offer (may be waived for lateral hire)
  • 21 years of age or older
  • United States Citizen
  • Valid driver’s license
  • No felony convictions. Certain misdemeanor convictions may be a disqualifier


  • 21 years of age or older, or between 18 and 21 years of age, and actively enrolled and in good standing in an accredited fire academy or E.M.S program

Marengo Fire / Rescue Districts offers testing services for the Firefighter/Paramedic and Part-time positions through the National Testing Network (NTN).  To register with NTN and begin the process, go to “”, select “Find jobs”, then select “Firefighter Jobs” and sign up for “Marengo Fire – Rescue”, select the position you are seeking, “Firefighter/Paramedic” or “Part-time Firefighter/EMT-B or Paramedic”.

  1. Complete the NTN registration process and schedule your test.
  2. Download and complete the Employment Application HERE
  3. Submit your completed application to Marengo Fire Rescue, Station #1.
    • Applications will not be considered until you have completed the NTN testing process.
  4. Initial panel interview.
  5. Conditional offer of employment.
    • Offer pending:
      • Background check.
      • Credential verification with good standing, i.e.; IDPH, OSFM.
      • Physical exam and drug screening.
      • Candidate Physical Ability Test. (CPAT)
        • CPAT may be waived for lateral hiring at our discretion, i.e.; Currently employed with a Fire Department as a volunteer, part-time / P.O.C., or full-time Firefighter/Paramedic.
